August 21, 2024
The day Rowan left this temporary place and joined the Lord.
He was 6 years old.
Rowan was tragically taken from us by his biological father. This act — known as filicide — is way more common than you might think. On average, over 450 children are killed by a parent annually. One is too many; 450 is abysmal!
Rowan’s circumstances and story need to be told and addressed. Laws, perceptions and actions need to change. This is the inspiration behind THE ROWAN PROJECT.
The Rowan Project is a pioneering nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness about filicide in the United States. As an organization fully dedicated to this cause, our primary goal is to provide education, support, and advocacy for families and communities affected by this tragic issue.
We all need to fight to stop filicide from occurring. We need to AMEND THE SYSTEM. SAVE CHILDREN.
FILLICIDE AWARENESS DAY PROPOSED in Michigan
The Rowan Project has sent a request/proposal to Michigan’s House of Representatives that AUGUST 31st be declared “Fillicide Awareness Day”. Filicide remains an under-recognized and insufficiently addressed form of violence. If successful, a day acknowledging this issue would be a major win in raising awareness.
The color orange has been respectfully requested for recognition on this day as a symbol of visibility, urgency, and hope—and in honor of Rowan, whose favorite color was orange.
If you are a Michigander, please consider contacting your local state representative to promote this initiative. If you are outside the state of Michigan, please consider, with our support and efforts, proposing similar legislation in your state. Contact us if you’d like to help.
The Rowan Project is in it’s infancy. We’re looking to grow into a national spotlight.
